Assistant Tax Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Location: Leicestershire  |  Type: Permanent

Our client is a well respected business based near Fosse Park. This is a newly created role which would be ideal for an individual with strong tax skills leaving practice wanting to make their first move into industry.

Role Description:
Reporting to the Head Of Tax and working closely with the Group Tax Manager, the role would involve working on all compliance obligations for the UK group, including:
• Preparation of corporation tax computations for group companies (currently 20 annual computations);
• Involvement in HMRC enquiries and audits;
• Preparation of current and deferred tax workings for inclusion in both the UK GAAP Financial Statements;
• Working with the group tax manager to provide general tax advice (PAYE and VAT) across the group. This would include advising on VAT issues No previous specific experience necessary.

• Responsibility for consolidation and submission of group P11ds and PSA return, review of company car averaging agreements;

• Overview role re the Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme including assessment of compliance with minimum wage legislation;

• Monitoring tax controls across the group to support SAO compliance position;

• Liaison with external advisors as appropriate/relevant; and

• Undertaking tax audits/reviews of other offices (VAT and PAYE) on ad hoc basis.


Qualifications:

• Professional accounting or tax qualification. Part qualification with view to completing qualifications acceptable.
• Minimum 2 years qualifying tax experience including completion of corporation tax computations. An awareness and understanding of basic VAT and PAYE principles advantageous but not necessary.
• Strong communication/negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical skills with proven ability to resolve complex issues
• Tax accounting experience necessary.
• Willingness to become involved in group projects as they arise, eg acquisitions and disposals of businesses including due diligence, property transactions and group restructuring.
• A readiness to learn and an ability to research new or previously unknown areas.

Hybrid working (up to 40% home based) if preferred. We will consider applications on full time or part time basis (4 days a week).
