Assistant Accountant

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Location: Nottingham  |  Type: Permanent

Our client is a manufacturing business which is long established and offers a great career path for an aspiring accountant who wishes to be an FD.
The successful candidate will be studying for a professional qualification with strong experience in management accounts.
Reporting to the FD this busy role will offer plenty of variety and interesting range of tasks.

Costings

• Preparation of costings for new and existing products, to include materials, labour and allocation of overheads
• Analyse Job costings and produce weekly/monthly report and explanations on variances

Management Accounting

• Help in the preparation of month end management accounts and support the Group reporting.
• Assist with the year end audit process and the preparation of information for the statutory accounts

Forecasting/Budgeting

• Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process, this would involve monitoring actual to budgets and working directly with budget holders to understand any variances
• Understand cost center reporting within the ERP system

Reporting

• Analyse & report financial information
• Work with key stakeholders and understand areas for operational improvement
• Deputise for other members of the team to enable the continuity between AEU as required

Other

• Make sure any queries are answered in a professional and timely manner
• To support the department so that the department can meet the requirements of the strategic roadmap
• Record and report accurate information as required
• Attend and present at meetings as necessary to perform duties and aid business development.
• Attend training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
• Perform any other duties as reasonably required by your Manager or a Director.




• AAT qualified
• In depth knowledge of accounting and costing processes
• Microsoft Office Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and Teams
• Strong communication and good presentation skills

• Part Qualified / Qualified Accountant in CCAB qualification
• Experience using MRP software
• Knowledge of Group accounting
• Manufacturing experience preferred
