Company Accountant

Salary: £36,000 - £38,000

Our client is a well-established business based near to Basford. They offer a lovely working environment with a great team.

The current accountant has been with the business many years but is moving on so they are seeking an individual who really enjoys a hands-on role.

Duties will cover the following:

Monthly management accounts – including processing journals (not limited to accruals, prepayments, salaries, depreciation, petty cash and stock adjustments)
Balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain cashbook (enter sales receipts & payments onto Sage) & reconcile bank.
Maintain the fixed asset register
Calculate costings for products, to be used for yearend stock valuation and for calculating product sales prices to ensure the required profit margin is achieved.
Cash flow management to ensure solvency and accomplish long term expansion and growth.
Forecast management accounts to assist with managerial decisions and predict cost saving requirements.
Process payroll including submitting FPS and EPS. Process payroll year end and P11Ds
Monthly KPI’s.
Customer statements
Approve new credit account applications and set credit limits for new and existing customers.
Debt collection.
Calculate sales agent commission.
Process purchase ledger including requesting credit notes if required.
Process payments (for suppliers, HMRC taxes, foreign exchange)
Approve and process customer credit notes and refunds, including for retrospective rebates
Quarterly VAT returns.
Quarterly CT61 tax calculations.
Submit National Statistics forms.
Manage annual stock take count and calculating stock valuation for annual accounts.
Assist accountants annually to produce the statutory accounts and submit the corporation tax computation.
Process staff holiday requests.
Ensure company compliance for taking credit card payments (PCIDSS).
First point of contact with external IT support.

So areas of the role which are none finance can be done by other people in the business if required. The successful person will be an experienced finance professional and enjoy doing a variety of work and been a key member of the team. Manufacturing experience would be great but not essential. Candidates who are qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or AAT would be great but QBE (qualified by experience) accountants would be also welcome to apply.
