The Job
The Company has a full-time opportunity available to actively support the director with their reporting duties and provide information to aid their operational and strategic decision making. This represents an excellent opportunity for a pro-active Management Accountant to work with the team and ensure the company has up to date and relevant financial information. The role will also involve reporting into the finance team of the parent company.
The core responsibility for the role will be to manage and lead the finance function for the company, however there is also the potential for exposure into the sales side of the business should the successful applicant possess a commercially minded outlook and interest.
The Responsibilities
Reporting into the Board the main duties of the role will include:
- Preparation of periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, variance analysis with associated narrative. Liaising with the parent company team as and when required.
- Preparations of prepayments and accruals.
- Fixed asset management.
- Cashflow management including overseeing income forecasting and payment planning.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Preparation of year end financial information. Liaising with company auditors.
- Performance and KPI analysis, working alongside the finance team of our parent company.
- Investigate and resolve issues in a logical manner.
- Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems, improve and maintain accuracy.
- Working operationally with colleagues across finance and non-finance to ensure accurate information and analysis is provided.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
- Ad-hoc reporting projects as requested.
- Occasional processing invoices, payments and reconciling ledgers on the accounting system.
- Distribution of invoices to the team for authorisation and chasing for completion.
The Skills and Qualities required
- Proven track record as a Management Accountant.
- Competent people manager.
- Experience in a production and manufacturing sector would be a benefit but not necessary for someone with the right attitude.
- Job costing experience preferred.
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or part-qualified – or “qualified by experience.”
- GCSE (or Higher) Maths & English Language.
- Strong commercial approach to work.
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Strong numerical, financial and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills – in writing and verbally.
- Proficient in a variety of digital systems.
- Proficient in Excel to an Advanced level – along with other Microsoft packages.
- Positive and proactive work attitude.
- Ability to make recommendations and drive improvements.
