Financial Controller

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Our client is a well respected business based near Burton on Trent.

This is a newly created role reporting to the FD of the business with a view to moving into the FD role within a period of time.

We believe this role would suit a newly qualified individual who has had a wide experience of commercial clients in practice and is looking to take their first steps into industry. They will be a highly motivated individual who will take a hands-on approach and is eager to learn all aspects of the business.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director you will be exposed to all areas of the Finance Function, from preparing Monthly Management Accounts, Monthly VAT returns, Quarterly royalty returns, Costings and Cash management.

Specifically, your role will cover: -

• Preparation of detailed Monthly Management Accounts to strict deadlines
• Learning, Understanding, and developing the Companies internal systems and controls.
• Stock Control
• Contract Costings
• Statutory Returns (VAT/Payroll)
• Management of Subsidiary and Associate Company affairs
• Support & Guidance of Accounts team – including being able to cover their duties during times of holiday & illness.
• Managing the General & Credit insurance policies of the business
• Cashflow management (Bank Reconciliations/Payments/Invoice Discounting)
• Preparation of Statutory Accounts & liaising with External Auditor requirements.
• Royalty reporting - both to licensors and internally.

Role Requirements: -

• ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified
• Analytical with attention to detail & excellent excel skills.
• High level of commercial awareness.
• Ability & desire to take a hands-on role and engage at all levels of the business.
• Passion & Drive to develop and shape the role and make it ‘their own’.
• Have a good level of IT skills and be able to quickly master the systems we have.
• Full Driving License & their own car.

The successful candidate will look to work closely with the Finance Director whilst simultaneously developing the role and engaging in the broader management of the business. The role will give the candidate a good grounding in industry and has the potential to be a gateway to the board of the Company.
